THE DESIGNER

Vlasta Collu (Slovak/Italian national) was born and raised in the Slovak Republic. Art, design and couture have been Vlasta's life-long passion. She gained her training in couture tailoring and millinery techniques from her talented grandmother at an early age. Although she studied and graduated from university in mathematics and software development, she stayed true to her passion during this time. She was regularely receiving commissions for special garments and hats from her family, friends and private clients.

After moving to the UK she furthered her knowledge and skills in bridal design and tailoring at the London College of Fashion. Her millinery work has been influenced by a positive critique from Marie O'Regan and training in working with feathers by Ian Bennett. She still uses her talent in mathematics to achieve flawless silhouettes and cuts.

Vlasta Collu Couture offers an alternative to the traditional wedding gowns and headwear. The inspiration comes from elegance of past eras and beauty of simplicity. All designs are created to enhance features and personality of the wearer rather than overpower.

Vlasta Collu Couture luxurious, elegant and sophisticated bridal gowns and headdresses are created by using only highest quality materials - exquisite silks, fine laces, delicate feathers, Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls - supplied by the most reputable UK companies. All gowns and headdresses are made in the London atelier with traditional couture techniques. Even their signature luxurious silk flowers are hand crafted by the team, literally petal by petal with customised stamens to add ultimate luxury.
